Charity website design funded by our commercial work.

We are an impact-led studio. Paid client work creates the capacity to build subsidised and, for a handful of organisations each year, free websites for charities, community groups and social enterprises. Same design team, same build quality, a price that reflects what you actually have.

// Why charities get a raw deal

Charities get quoted like corporates and served like an afterthought

Most charity websites are one of two things: a donated build from a volunteer who has since moved on, or a £10k agency project that ate a year of unrestricted funds. Both leave you stuck. The volunteer site cannot be updated, and the agency site comes with a maintenance contract you did not budget for. Digital work that funds digital good is the whole model here. Commercial projects pay the bills, which means charity work does not need to. Depending on your size and funding position, that is a heavily subsidised build, a nominal fee, or occasionally no fee at all. What does not change: real design, copy that makes the case, a site your team can update without calling anyone, and no lock-in.

// What we build

Built around the three jobs a charity website actually has

01

Fundraising and donations

Donation flow that does not lose people at step two, regular giving, Gift Aid capture, appeal pages you can spin up yourself for each campaign, and clear reporting on what a donation actually buys.

02

Volunteers and services

Volunteer sign-up, shift or session booking, referral forms, service directories and eligibility explainers. The admin work that eats your week, moved onto the site.

03

Funders, trustees and impact

Impact reporting, annual accounts, governance pages and case studies presented so a funder reading you for the first time can see credibility in thirty seconds.

// Being found

Being findable matters more when you have no ad budget

Charities almost never have money for paid search, which makes organic visibility the whole game. We set up service pages around what people actually type when they need help, wire up local search so you appear for your catchment area, and structure the site so grant funders, journalists and beneficiaries all find the page they need.

Questions charities ask us

Is this actually free, or is it a discount with strings?+
Both exist, and we are upfront about which you are getting. A small number of builds each year are free, usually for small grassroots organisations with little or no unrestricted income. Most are subsidised, meaning you pay a fraction of the commercial price. We tell you which bracket you are in on the first call, before any work starts.
How do you decide who gets a free or subsidised build?+
Size of the organisation, funding position, and how much difference the website would genuinely make. A food bank that needs volunteer shift sign-up will beat a well-funded national with a marketing team. We are honest if the answer is no.
We are a social enterprise, not a registered charity. Does that count?+
Yes. Community interest companies, social enterprises, mutual aid groups and unconstituted community projects are all in scope. Registration status matters less than what the organisation does and what it can afford.
Can we take donations through the site?+
Yes. We integrate with Stripe, JustGiving, Enthuse, GoCardless or whatever your finance team already uses. Regular giving and Gift Aid are handled properly rather than bolted on.
Who updates the site after launch?+
You do. Pages, news, appeals and images are all editable through a visual editor, and we record a walkthrough at handover so a new staff member or trustee can pick it up. No agency gatekeeping.
What about ongoing costs?+
Hosting and domain are yours and typically a few pounds a month. There is no compulsory retainer. If you want us to handle updates and monitoring there is an optional care plan, but plenty of organisations self-manage.
Can we use this as match funding or evidence in a grant application?+
Yes. We will write up the value of the subsidised or donated work so it can be shown as in-kind support in a bid. Several funders count it.
