Small business website design in Scotland without the small-business tax.

Small businesses in Scotland get quoted like startups (too cheap, template-y) or like corporates (£12k for a five-page site with an account manager). Neither is right. Fixed-price packages, real design, no monthly retainer trap.

// Why this town, this site

Small business pricing shouldn't mean small business quality

The market for Scottish small business web design is bimodal. On one side: Fiverr, £500 template flippers, and neighbour's-nephew builds — cheap, generic, and worthless as marketing assets six months later. On the other: full agencies with account managers, discovery workshops, and £8k+ invoices for what is functionally a five-page site. Our whole business is the middle ground. Fixed-price packages (Pixel Five, Ten, Twenty), no hourly rates, no phased upsells. You pay for the site — not for an agency's overhead structure. Everything happens through one portal, most builds ship in 3-5 weeks, and the finished site looks like something a much bigger firm would have made. That's the whole pitch.

// What we build here

Sites built for the businesses that actually operate around here

01

Owner-run trades & services

One-person or small-team plumbers, joiners, electricians, cleaners, gardeners. Ranks locally, click-to-call obvious, Google reviews wired in. £ hundreds of enquiries a month for well-set-up sites, not thousands of pageviews.

02

Independent hospitality & retail

Cafés, small shops, guesthouses, salons. Photography-heavy, hours / menu / booking on the first screen, mobile-first because that's where 80% of your customers actually visit from.

03

Solo consultants & specialist services

Freelance consultants, coaches, therapists, financial advisers. Positioning-led rewrite (usually the actual weak link), one clear service ladder, booking form that filters serious enquiries from tyre-kickers.

// Local SEO

Small business SEO: fewer, better, more specific

The mistake small businesses make with SEO is trying to compete for broad phrases ('accountant Scotland') where big firms and directory sites already dominate. What actually works: specific phrases with clear buying intent ('freelance accountant Edinburgh startup', 'emergency electrician Dundee reviews'). Fewer keywords, tighter matching, real conversion.

Questions we get from around here

What's the minimum I need to spend?+
Pixel Five starts at the low four figures. Below that, honestly, a Squarespace template you build yourself is the better call — we'll say so rather than take the job.
Do I have to commit to a monthly retainer?+
No. Optional managed monthly support exists for hosting, backups and small changes, but plenty of clients self-manage after launch and just call us for bigger jobs. Zero lock-in.
Can I really update it myself, or is that a lie all agencies tell?+
Genuinely yes on Webflow. Text, images, prices, new pages, blog posts — all through a visual editor. We record a walkthrough at handover. If you get stuck we're a message away, no invoice for a two-minute question.
How long from signing off to going live?+
Pixel Five: 3 weeks. Pixel Ten: 4-5 weeks. Pixel Twenty: 5-6 weeks. Assumes you can turn around content approvals within a few days at each milestone.
I don't have logos, photos, brand colours — is that a problem?+
No. Brand basics are included at every package tier — we build the visual system rather than expecting one. Photography is either a shoot we arrange, curated stock, or a mix; discussed on the initial call so nothing surprises you.
What's not included that other agencies would charge for?+
Copy is included. Basic brand direction is included. On-page SEO is included. Analytics setup is included. Google Business Profile audit is included. What's separate: ongoing content marketing, paid ads management, and heavy custom development.
Can we start with a small site and grow it later?+
Yes — many clients start on Pixel Five and add pages or features later. The build is designed to grow, not to be replaced.

Five-minute brief, no phone tag, no vague hourly rates. If a package fits, we'll say so — if it doesn't, we'll tell you that too.
