// Service · Local SEO

Local SEO that brings in calls, not pageviews.

Ranking nationally for a broad term is vanity. Ranking in the map pack for the thing people search when they need you today is revenue. We set up the profile, the pages, the citations and the review flow, then show you what changed.

// Why local SEO retainers disappoint

Most local SEO is sold by the month and delivered by nobody

The standard local SEO retainer is a few hundred a month for a monthly report nobody reads, a handful of directory submissions, and a blog post written by someone who has never visited your town. Twelve months later you are still on page two, but you have paid for a year of activity. The work that actually moves local rankings is unglamorous and mostly front-loaded: a properly built Google Business Profile with the right categories and services, consistent name, address and phone across the directories that matter, a real page for each town or service you want to appear for, and a system that keeps reviews arriving. We do that work as a defined project, hand it over, and only stay involved if there is genuinely something to do.

// The work that moves rankings

Three things decide whether you show up locally

01

Google Business Profile

Correct primary and secondary categories, service and area setup, photos, products, posts, Q&A seeded, messaging switched on. The single highest-leverage local asset, and usually the most neglected.

02

Location and service pages

A real page per town and per service, each with its own copy, proof and structured data. Not the same paragraph with the place name swapped, which Google has been ignoring since about 2013.

03

Citations and reviews

Consistent listings across the directories that carry weight in the UK, plus a review request flow so new reviews arrive steadily rather than in one suspicious burst.

// Measurement

How we measure whether it worked

Map pack position for your core terms in your actual catchment, calls and direction requests from the profile, and enquiry form submissions. Not impressions, not domain authority, not a traffic-light dashboard. If the phone is not ringing more in three months, something needs changing and we will tell you what.

Questions about local SEO

How long before local SEO makes a difference?+
Google Business Profile changes can show within days to a few weeks. Location pages typically take one to three months to settle into position. Anyone promising page one in a fortnight is either lucky or lying.
Is this a monthly retainer?+
It does not have to be. The bulk of the value is in the setup, which we do as a fixed-price project. Ongoing work is optional and only worth paying for if you want new location pages, content or active review management.
We serve a wide area but only have one office. Can we still rank in other towns?+
Yes, with a service area setup on the profile and genuine location pages for the places you actually work. What does not work is inventing addresses. That gets profiles suspended.
Do reviews really matter that much?+
For map pack ranking and for conversion, yes, more than almost anything else. Volume, recency and whether you reply all count. We set up a request flow so it happens without you remembering.
Can you do this if our website was built by someone else?+
Usually. We audit what is there first. If the site cannot support proper location pages or is too slow to rank, we will say so rather than take the money and work around it.
What about competitors with fake reviews and dodgy listings?+
Frustrating, and often temporary. We report obvious violations where it is worth doing, but the durable answer is a stronger profile, better pages and a steady flow of real reviews.
Do you cover the whole UK or just Scotland?+
The whole UK. Most of our clients are in Scotland, which is where our local page coverage is deepest, but the work is the same wherever you trade.
