Wren & Sons

A concept build for a fictional family-run building firm that needs local leads, honest work photos and social proof - without a bloated website.

Wren & Sons concept build
// The brief

What we set out to solve

Wren & Sons is an invented builder we designed to show how a small trade firm could get properly-qualified leads from a five-page site, without paying for a bespoke build the business doesn't need. The brief: fast, local, trustworthy, and easy to update from a phone.

// Approach

How we'd build it

01

Service + area pages, not a services list

Each service (extensions, loft conversions, renovations) crossed with each service area gets its own page - the pattern that actually ranks for local trade searches, without keyword-stuffing.

02

Reviews wired in properly

Google Reviews pulled in live with Review schema, so the star rating shows in search results, not just on the page. Photos of finished work on every service page with client-permission captions.

03

Enquiry flow built for site + phone

Click-to-call above the fold on mobile, a short 3-field enquiry form everywhere else, and both routed to a single inbox with the service and postcode tagged automatically.

// Scope

What's in a build like this

This is what a delivered project of this shape would include end-to-end, scoped and quoted as a Pixel Site build.

  • Bespoke site with service-area pages
  • Google Reviews integration
  • Local SEO groundwork
  • Mobile-first, phone-optimised
  • Simple CMS for project photos
  • 5 working-day delivery target
// Search intent

What the audience is actually Googling

Trade searches are almost always local and job-specific: 'loft conversion [town]', 'builder near me', 'extension quote [postcode]'. The homeowner is comparing 3-4 firms in a single session - they need trust signals (reviews, photos, address) in the first scroll or they bounce.

// Representative queries this build targets
builder [town]loft conversion [area]extension builder near merenovation company [city]brickwork [region]local builder [postcode]
// Why this build stands out

What separates it from a template trades & construction site

Service-area page pattern

Instead of one 'Services' page trying to rank for everything, we build the service × area matrix that Google actually rewards for local trades.

Star rating in search results

Google Reviews integrated with Review schema - the star rating shows next to the listing on the SERP, not just on the page.

Photo-updates from a phone

The site owner adds a new job photo from the site with a caption in under a minute - the trust engine that keeps the site alive between formal rebuilds.

// FAQ

Questions we get about builds like this

Does this need a big content-management system?+
No - Pixel Site is designed to be light. Photo uploads, review sync and text edits work from a phone, and the whole site rebuilds in seconds.
How many service areas can we cover?+
Sensibly, 4-8 core postcodes on Pixel Site without diluting quality. Beyond that we build a proper location hub and it moves into Pixel Flow.
What about Checkatrade / MyBuilder?+
Those directories are useful as a lead channel, but they don't build your brand. This site is designed to be the firm's own front door - with reviews and photos pulled in from anywhere you already publish them.
Would this need Pixel Site or Pixel Flow?+
Pixel Site is the fit for a single-firm 4-8 area builder. Bigger service areas, a careers section or a filtered projects hub tip into Pixel Flow.
